Our flagship Chardonnay pays tribute to the Moravian missionaries who settled in the Hemel-en-Aarde valley in the early-1800s, establishing a hospital on what is today the Bouchard Finlayson estate.
A perfect expression of the Henel-en-Aarde terroir, the Missionvale Chardonnay is produced exclusively from grapes grown and harvested on the estate, taking advantage of the valley’s cool maritime climate to produce a Chardonnay that balances textbook minerality and citrus notes on a foundation of well-integrated oak richness. Fermented and aged in both oak barrels and terracotta amphorae, it’s a fine example of the ongoing innovation in the Bouchard Finlayson cellar.
