In a remote valley deep in the Elandskloof Mountains, 80-kilometres inland from Bouchard Finlayson, the vineyard known as the Kaaimansgat – or ‘Crocodile’s Lair’ – is a pocket of Chardonnay with legendary status in the South African winelands. For more than 30 years, Bouchard Finlayson has meticulously harvested a section of this iconic vineyard, crafting a Chardonnay that is effortlessly expressive of the vineyard’s unique mountain terroir.
The Kaaimansgat or Crocodile’s Lair vineyard is hidden away in the Elands Kloof Valley behind the village of Villiersdorp, just 80km from Hermanus.
