As one of the first wine estates established in the valley, Bouchard Finlayson has been instrumental in creating much-needed employment in the Hemel-en-Aarde agricultural community. Bouchard Finlayson is a long-standing member of the Hemel-en-Aarde Winegrowers’ Association, and is committed to upholding the ethical code of Labour Practices in the area. In addition, we are proud to provide ongoing training and educational opportunities for our team to further their skills.
In addition to contributing to the staff retirement fund, Bouchard Finlayson provides essential staff support in the form of housing, water and electricity subsidies. We also cover the financial burden of children’s school tuition, healthcare and transportation to work. Recent additions to staff facilities on the farm include the construction of a new Recreation Room for our farm workers, including cloak rooms and a self-catering style cafeteria.
As a supporter of the Hermanus Rainbow Trust, Bouchard Finlayson assists in providing crucial health, social and education services to underprivileged communities within the Overberg region. Bouchard Finlayson also makes monthly financial contributions to support the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley Pre-School. In the broader hospitality industry we support ongoing professional development via the Bouchard Finlayson Wine & Spirit Education Trust Scholarship.
