The maritime climate of the Hemel-en-Aarde valley is celebrated in this unusual blend of white wine varietals.
Blanc de Mer – ‘white of the sea’ – is built on a foundation of Riesling, which provides a foundation of linearity, while fully-ripe Viognier from the Elgin valley contributes a nose of bright floral fragrance. Chardonnay brings richness and structure, while the inclusion of a small percentage of Sauvignon Blanc adds a subtle freshness and acidity. A wonderful pairing with an array of seafood dishes, the Blanc de Mer is also a perfect aperitif.
The name Blanc de Mer translates to ‘White of the Sea’, inspired by the estate’s close proximity to our coastal town Hermanus.
