Bouchard Finlayson Trade Show

For the first time Bouchard Finlayson held an independent trade show for its loyal supporters at The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa, Campsbay, on Monday night.

An imaculate sunny day followed by a warm wind free night and views providing the perfect backdrop for tasting the delight of older vintages produced by Peter Finlayson.

It was the 1991 Blanc de Mer that ‘stole the show’ -  a raging hit – a wine which carries itself beautifully at the juvenile age of 21 years!

Hannibal 2006 tasted high up in the Alps where General Hannibal strode to victory!

General Hannibal on African elephants and modern man “en velo” – an exhilarating trek across the Alps, accompanied by Bouchard Finlayson Hannibal 2006!

Whilst the Pyrenees divide France and northern Spain, its easterly border is cut off from Italy by the majestic Alps.  Mountains that divide cultures, languages, beliefs and of course, grape varieties.  Planting Nebbiolo or Sangiovese in Burgundy or Pinot noir in Piedmont is an absolute faux pas.  Europe is all about terroir, a notion that has taken centuries to groom, leading to the wine styles that we see in the New World today.  What of the Bouchard Finlayson Hannibal then, a blend of French and Italian grape varieties?

Hannibal marches into Cape Town’s winter menu!

Hannibal to accompany Italian dishes!

Last week Saturday was the launch at Societi Bistro for the new three-course menu by head chef Stéfan Marais, paired with exceptional local wines that have an Italian flare!

Each Wednesday will see the launch of a new menu, with the journey starting in Fruili, Venezia Guilia on Wednesday 11 May 2011.
